Thank You Day began as a way of showing appreciation to all of the frontline workers through the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the campaign has grown to include hundreds of partners and an astounding 15million people have taken part in Thank You Day celebrations. It’s all about showing appreciation for your local community and bringing you closer to those around you. CENS wants everyone to know how great our locals are at supporting the work we do!
Community support
It’s been another tough year, what with the rise of living crisis, but the locals of Alexandra road are some of our biggest supporters and regularly go out of their way to help CENS.
When we opened Al’s Annexe, our move-on property next door to the main building, they were there to show their support on the open day. They have done fun runs at Christmas time, drop in on Christmas Eve with donations, raised over £100 last year with a plant sale and joined forces to take part in our annual MARCH 4 CENS event.
Locals share their thoughts
We asked our neighbours what it’s like living on the same street as CENS. Here are their heart-warming answers:
“I just remember when I first moved here, lots of people said it would be noisy and there would be lots of trouble because of the shelter. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Residents are always polite, respectful and quiet. People from the pub on the other hand…!”
“An estate agent told me there’s no way I’d want to live on this road, but I actually fell really proud that we have it and think the work they do is great.”
“People said it would be a nightmare living so close to the night shelter but there has never been a problem. I have a Christmas Eve tradition where I go into town and buy essentials and take them to CENS on the way home.”
“You are our neighbours, like any others, we welcome you, and want the best for you and if we can help we will. That’s what good neighbours is all about.”
