Happy New Year everyone. We are stepping into 2024 with the shelter and our move-on accommodation next door, fully occupied. This is great news as it means that we are helping those most at need to get the support, advice and space they need to move on to secure, independent living. However, with this huge demand on our services, we are facing rising costs, which means that we need your support this year more than ever.
So how can you can help? Here are 5 ideas to get you started:
1. Set up a fundraiser
Fundraising doesn’t just change the lives of others, it can benefit you in so many ways too. You’ll feel motivated, have fun, learn new skills you never knew you had, meet new people, and it can even open up new opportunities. Whatever your passion, use your imagination and set up a fundraiser. If you want some inspiration and advice, head to our Fundraising Guide.
2. Become a CENS Champion
All donations, whatever the amount, are a huge help to us. And because we are a small charity, 100% of your donation will directly help someone who is homeless. We have recently updated our Donate Page to make it even simpler to donate. If you want to have a real, longterm impact on the lives of our residents, you might want to consider becoming a monthly donor and help us throughout 2024. Head to our Donate page to find out how monthly donations can make real change.
3. Sign up to March 4 CENS 2024
Last year, our fantastic supporters raised over £8000 taking part in the March 4 CENS challenge, by walking 1 million steps throughout the month of March. Registration for the 2024 event is opening very soon. So go on, challenge yourself and sign up. It’s a team event, so you can get your friends and colleagues involved too. You’ll get fit for summer, have loads of fun, enjoy lots of fresh air….all whilst raising vital funds for CENS. Read our story on the 2023 event here.
4. Donate some essentials
Donations don’t just have to be financial. With the shelter fully-occupied, our running costs have risen hugely over the past year. We always need food, drinks and household items, so anything donated is warmly received. We have am Amazon wishlist or you can access our comprehensive essentials list here.
5. Shout about us
Finally, become a CENS advocate. The more people who know about us, the greater the support. So, tell all your friends, colleagues and family about CENS and the work we do. Show them our website and ask them to follow us on Facebook. If your workplace is looking for a charity to support, suggest CENS. If a friend is looking to raise money for a charity – tell them about the work we do. The more you share, the more people we can help.
Thank you for all your support and here’s to a successful 2024 for everyone.
