Thanks to all those taking part and everyone who donated. You have raised over £3500 so far.
Everyone has hung up their walking boots, packed away their pedometers and is now having a well-earned rest. All nine teams taking part successfully completed the 1 million step challenge, taking over 10 million steps in total to raise money for CENS.
The weather was often challenging, but that didn’t stop our intrepid steppers as they fought the wind and the rain to clock up the miles.
If you ever wondered what 1 million steps looked like, it’s:
- 500 miles with an average stride
- A walk from the white cliffs of Dover to Edinburgh
- 32,260 steps per day
- At an average pace, that’s 5 hours and 20 minutes every day
Our youngest steppers were Daisy and Charley who are both 7, and our oldest stepper was 85-year-old Celia, who clocked up an incredible 511,000 steps all by herself!
Thanks to our sponsors
Our amazingly generous sponsors, Lanswood, supported the event, which meant that every penny raised went directly to charity. With sponsorship money, donations and registration fees, we have already raised over £3500. The Just Giving page is still open until the end of April. So, if you’d like to contribute, there is still time. Just click on the JustGiving link here.
We will be holding an Open Morning for everyone who took part this year, so that we can show our appreciation and say a massive thank you – date to be confirmed, so watch this space.
