Here at CENS night shelter for the homeless we rely on the kindness of strangers, volunteers and supporters. Today we would like to sing the praises of The Fat Cat Public House and to the staff at The Fat Cat who, every year for the past three years, have funded, prepared, cooked and delivered Christmas dinner for CENS residents.

THE DREAM TEAM
The Fat Cat Free Mouse, as it is famously known, has been serving drinks and home cooked meals for years and is a popular, welcoming, well-known place to go and relax with friends in Colchester. They also offer many fun events from quiz nights to curry nights and much much more! The Fat Cat is owned by James Keatley. His friends Stuart and Heidi Sherlock also come along to help cook the Christmas Dinner. Christmas Dinner at CENS is also funded by The Fat Cat.

The manager Sarah makes sure the running of The Fat Cat goes smoothly and her staff all enjoy working for such a lovely team.

THE MAIN EVENT AT CENS – CHRISTMAS DINNER SERVED BY THE FAT CAT!
Everyone here at CENS looks forward to Christmas Day, especially the residents. The excitement leading up to it knowing they will be served a hot delicious Christmas roast dinner by The Fat Cat makes it even more special. The Fat Cat purchase all their food locally and the meat comes from their local farm – Wick Farm. The aroma on the day was divine and everyone was licking their lips at the site of the trays of roast potatoes, pigs in blankets and the roasted Turkey!

The table is set, ready for CENS residents to enjoy their Fat Cat Christmas dinner.

KINDNESS IS CONTAGIOUS
The Fat Cat customers had even clubbed together to buy presents for all the residents and wrapped them to! This means so much to us here at CENS, as we know that for those facing homelessness its these special, kind, generous actions that make them feel included and not forgotten on what can be one of the hardest days of the year for someone facing homelessness.

The generosity of The Fat Cat customers means so much to the residents at CENS.
